So I have a Buff Orpington hen, Tate, who has always been the biggest personality and head of the flock. She has always enjoyed perching on me, and continues to this day.

I personally love it (if you can’t tell) but one thing I am unsure of if it is because Tate likes me, or if she is trying to assert dominance over me. Or maybe both? Recently when she is up on my back or head she starts scratching (like through leaves) and pecking. She doesn’t seem to be upset, but it hurts a bit and I’m not sure how to interpret this behavior.
Anyone have a similar experience?
