So I my chickens got a mild sickness and I'm. If the process of treating it (oxytetracyclene in the air sack for a mild runny nose and sneezing) anyway I asked a panel of experts - my older cousin and his friends and he said to lime the ground inside the coop to neutralize the bacteria in the poop sanitizing the coop. So I did this but I dint know what kind of lime to use I bought HYDRATED LIME and put it all in my coop outside and inside. Not that all the chickens are covered in it I noticed a MILD BURNING sensation on my arms where I spread the lime with my hands. I googled it up and found that some people say hydrated lime can burn chickens feet.
So my questions are
1. How do I properly lime a chicken coop ?
2. How do I treat burns from. Lime (just in case they get them) ?
3. What can I do to get them off the lime (spread hay over it . Wet it ) ?
4. What type of lime should I buy that will not burn?
4. Are there alternatives to lime?
