We have three chickens with no feathers on the back half of their bodies. We introduced seven chicks (three RIRs and four Silver Laced Wyandottes) to our three older (three year old Americana and two - one year old Golden Sex Links) hens. There was some pecking as we expected but seemed to be minimal. About three or four weeks ago we realized one of the seven younger chicks was a rooster and we gave him to a good home. About that same time we discovered the pecking started to get worse. All of the younger ones had bare spots on their lower backs and tail feathers were missing or mangled. Three of the Wyandottes were the worse. We asked around and were told to apply Rooster Booster to the bare areas. We did but within a few days the Rooster Booster was gone and so was more feathers. Three of the Wyandottes now have nearly completely bare butts. The RIRs aren't as bad and one of the Wyandottes has one small bare spot.

We have only been raising chickens for four years and have never seen anything like this. I saw on another topic "Threading". What is "Threading"?
