I have a 5 month old rooster that has a huge wound on the back of his neck, it is so deep that it is not bleeding. He is separated from everyone else. I don’t know what to do, any ideas?

Flush it out/clean it and apply triple antibiotic ointment. If you need to, trim some of the feathers away from the wound to help keep it cleaner.

Keeping him separated is a good idea, watch that flies don't get on the wound and that it doesn't get infected.

Is he alert, eating/drinking o.k.?
Any idea what happened? Is there another rooster or was he with older hens?

He is eating, drinking and acting normal. He is with his little flock of 15 roosters and my original flock of 13 older hens. I think the older hens picked on him that this happened
