Day 18 has closed and day 19 just beginning for cotournix quail in a still air incubator. I didn’t buy the 2nd thermometer until lockdown. And then they were 3-5 degrees off. Of course I bought the wrong one and it can’t be calibrated. Since no hatching I am thinking temp was too low. I see no movement or sounds from the eggs. Zero pipping. I put two in water and both floated. I did candle prior to lockdown and thought I had potentially 9 eggs. Kind of freaky out some that all is Perfectly still and quiet in the bator. This is your first hatch. I bought 3 quail from rural king but 2 are male and possibly even the third is male..

If the temperature was too low, they might still hatch. If the temp is low, they hatch late. If, however, your temperature was 3-5 degrees off the whole time, I don't know that I'd hold much hope.

NEVER put possibly live eggs in water. The egg shells are porous and you can suffocate the chicks. The temperature difference also won't do them any good.

Have you tried candling them? Did you see any internal pips?

I candled the eggs and I could seethe air sac. I could see movement in one. One I think is bad cause the percent of light was too much
