Help. What breed?

What are 'production reds'?

Pretty much what junebuggena said. Production Reds are produced by crossing red gene roosters (RIRs, HNs, or PRs) with red gene hens (more of the same). The only real constant is that the offspring have reddish feathers and yellow skin and legs. If the offspring have darker red coloring (more toward mahagony) and black feathers in their tails, the hatcheries usually market them as RIRs. If they have lighter red coloring (more toward chestnut) and black feathers in the tails, the hatcheries usually market them as NHs. If the red shade is somewhere in the middle, or if the red color is very uneven, or if they lack black feathers in the tails, the hatcheries market them as Production Reds.
