I don't free range. I do have 2 roosters, that I don't especially want, who I leave out. They've been running loose, day and night, for about 2 months. As I was feeding Tuesday a hen escaped. She has always been very flighty and frequently tried to escape. I couldn't catch her or lure her back into the run. I was hoping to catch her when she went to roost that night. I gave up and went into the house. About 2 hours later ( still daylight) all that was left was a pile of feathers, no blood etc. I don't know what got her. Maybe a hawk, dog, fox? What do all of you think?
