Hi,
I have a hen with a big crop, it feels all squishy, what do I do to get her to empty it? I've seen things online about tipping them upside down and massaging to release fluid out through the beak but i've heard people on here say that that is a really bad idea as chickens have holes leading into their lungs from the top of their crop.

Please help, I don't want any of them to die ;(

I wrote this article just for folks such as yourself. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w-to-know-which-one-youre-dealing-with.73607/

Read it and you will learn the different issues a chicken can have with their crop. You are correct about not trying to make a hen with sour crop vomit. The airway on a chicken is located in the center of the throat at the back of the tongue. If any sour liquid backs up into the airway, it can get into the lungs causing serious problems.

Your hen may have sour crop or a combination of sour crop and impacted crop. The article will explain what to do.
