Hey all! my name is Lisa, and I am a brand new chicken mom in northern CA. (I guess I'm not even a chicken mom yet, we haven't picked up our girls!) I have been interested in raising chickens for awhile now, but just recently found that owning hens is legal in my city. I looked around and found a small family farm near us, and we will be picking up two Silkies and an Orpington this weekend or next. I am very excited to get started raising chickens. I've poked around this site a bit already, and I can see that there is a wealth of knowledge here. I am excited to jump into this community and learn, and as I become more experienced hopefully I can also share my knowledge!
Other than chickens, I have two kids, two dogs, two cats, two rabbits, a bearded dragon, two tarantulas, and a red bellied parrot (he is more my husband's, as he hates everyone else!) A lot of my time is spent cleaning pet dwellings, so I figured what's a bit more time for chickens, right?
