Hi, I’m from Missouri and I’m newbie here. I’ve loved domesticated chickens since the year 2000 but I could never get to have pet chickens until this year. I’m an animal lover and birds are among my top favorite animals ever. I have three chicken chicks. One is a Light Brahma, the other is a Cuckoo Maran and the last one is a white silkie chick. How do I raise chickens and take care of them so that they can live strong and healthy lives? We are raising chickens for their eggs only. These are pets and not food.

Welcome to BYC. Provide a dry draft free coop, proper feed, protection from predators, and your birds will thrive. Your silky, if a hen, will be more interested in providing more chicks than eggs.
