Hoping for a Buff Orpington Cockerel

Hi

So I’m hoping to get some fertile eggs this year from my Buff Orpington mini flock. I have 3 hens and what I think is an unrelated cockerel. He has developed a red comb much earlier than the others but just doesn’t exhibit any male behaviours. He’s bottom of the pecking order and doesn’t make a sound.

He is 17 weeks old. Can someone confirm please that I do in fact have a cockerel and my breeding hopes aren’t in danger!!

I agree with OneHappyRooster. He is a cockerel, and a slow developing one at that age. I would give him some extra protein to help speed along his development so he is ready to father chicks soon.
