House / Pet Quail !?

Parrots aren't domesticated animals, they are tamed by hand rearing and lots of time to accept you as a member if their "flock". Parrots are also very different from quail intelligence wise.
That's fair. I was mostly thinking of the smaller varieties of parrots like budgies or cockatiels that are probably on their way to being domesticated, but you're right that they're not actually domesticated.

That being said - I meant more that the typical birds that people keep as pets are bred with the purpose of being a pet. The domestication history of cockatiels is going to be towards being a companion animal, so they're going to be selected for friendliness vs. quail that are bred to be food or lay eggs.
