How do feed stores make money on chicks.. Or do they?

I walked in to get a small feeder, and almost left with a dozen bantams....

Yeah but I bet the profit margin on the feeder is higher than the dozen bantams.

I can say that the 'with it's' that I've seen are marked up substantially... We don't handle chicks at my store, so I have no input as to their livestock margin.

We don't carry many poultry supplies at my farm store. I was looking into supplying the local 4H chapter with 'start up kits' for their 4H poultry projects.

The feeders and waterers surprised me when I priced them from my wholesalers...

I got out cheap!!

Now, I have 27 chicks hatched on 13 Apr sitting under heat lamps in my dining room...

I'm in CHEEP!!!

I wonder if my wholesalers handle incubators??
