How do I kill a fox in a have-a-heart trap?

Hey everyone,

I have a "have-a-heart" trap set of in back of my chicken coop. I know that I have at least one fox around here and I'm hoping to catch it. The "have-a-heart" trap is owned by my neighbor, and I don't really want to get it all bloody and messy if I shoot a fox in it. What is the best way to kill a fox thats in a "have-a-heart" trap?

Well, do you know a trapper? Or anyone who could put the meat and pelt to use? If so I would contact them to kill it.

A .22 to the head isn't going to cause much, if any blood, at all.

I will probably use the pelt. Not sure though.

Good luck with catching a Fox in that trap. I've tried catching a Fox in a similar trap for months.
I caught a menacing Raccoon (in a smaller trap) that would climb the coop and walk on the roof, , looking for a way in.
I caught it after a week or two. .
A 22 between the eyes = no blood loss.
The trap will still need cleaning. Feces, urine, scent and bait will be all over trap. GC

Thats what I do when I catch something. Single shot to.the head.

Just be careful if you use a .22. Those little bullets will ricochet off the trap and go anywhere.

A heart shot would be less bloody then a head shot.
