how late is too late for mareks vaccine?

I got chicks from feed store and assumed they were vaccinated for mareks. They were not...they are on day 6...by the time I get it, it will be probably close to week 2 for them...too late? I just recently had a hen die of what sure seemed to be mareks. She is one of the last hens I had from my craig list girls, so not vaccinated...my other hens are healthy...anyhow...I am worried and will vaccinate these girls if it is effective this far out. Anyone know?

I'm sorry about your hen that died. We had the same thing happen with one of our pullets.

Thanks. Oh gosh...I really thought these girls were vaxed-just a terrible assumption I made...my plan was to only have mareks vaxed birds from here on out, in case the bird I had died of mareks. Thanks for the info-it clears it up.
