How long should I keep a heeat lamp on?

Thanks for starting this thread and thanks to everyone who answered! I'm picking up 3 chicks this weekend and was wondering the same thing.

I'm in So Cal as well, 70's during the day, mid 40's at night. Chicks are being picked up in San Diego.

its pretty warm. 80-45 maybe

At that age and those temperatures you shouldn't need any heat. Once they are fully feathered at around six weeks they are good to go with out.
