How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Another day of 8 eggs out of 8 pullets! It seems like feeding them the wetted down layer pellets with added eggshells and oyster shell makes a difference. Maybe it makes it easier for the pullets that are low in the pecking order to eat more food?
Two today by 3pm.

Yum, eggshells!!

I think my oldest EEs are about 4 years old. Some people have hens they say are 8 or 10 years old and still laying the occasional egg. But ours are not pets and I like to process them before they are completely useless for the pot; although some may say that at this age, they are. They still make good soup, dumplings, broth and bone broth. As they age they become more liable to diseases and I certainly have no use for sick chickens for the table. So 3 to 4 years is about the max for us, but everybody's different.
Our 2 oldest (by 9 weeks) have been granted pet status. The others have to earn their keep. We only have a small amount of space.
1 today. Been stormy though.
