How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I'm glad to see everyone doing well on egg production. I haven't had much luck though. My girls are sisters, almost a year old and I think going into a molt. I had 1 egg Saturday, 0 eggs Sunday, 1 egg Monday, and 1 egg today. I know the weather has been crazy but their frizzy feathers are telling the tale.

It's been amazingly gorgeous here the past couple of days, but any eggs that got laid have been eaten!

I think it's because they managed to kick most of their bedding out of the coop into the run, and they refuse to use any of the nesting boxes I've tried. I think the eggs are breaking accidentally. At least, I HOPE so!

On a happier note, I opened an egg I'd gotten a while ago, and it was a double-yolker!

The RSL newbies are going strong we're getting 4 or 5 a day from them. So most days we're getting 12 eggs. Today we got 13. If all goes well with weather this weekend they will all be living together by Sunday. As it is one of the tetras visit with the Reds every day for a few hours.

Got three out of five layers today one was really tiny such a cute egg. I'm gonna blow it out and keep it lol

Looks like the size of the one I got on the 2nd.

If the girls are accidentally breaking the eggs, I have one question:
Do they have plenty of oyster shell in a separate container from their feed? I don't understand HOW they KNOW they need to eat the oyster shell but without it, the shells will be thin.

Also, have you tried putting a fake egg in the nests? They apparently like to lay where another "chicken" has laid. Maybe they think that means it is safe. I have a half yellow half purple plastic egg with a rock inside so the weight seems reasonable. Several of the girls will use the nest that has the plastic egg even when I move it to a different nest.

Tuesday: 9 eggs.
Wednesday: 7 eggs.
Thursday: 4 eggs.

They have been stuck in the lower barn alley this week as no one is here during the day to check on them. I don't know if that is affecting their laying or not.

4/8 = 7 but one was soft; 4/9 = 5; 4/10 = 6; and today would have been our biggest production day yet at 8 but 2 were soft. :( I thought they were getting better and now we've had 3 soft in four days. UGH. I gave them a pep talk so hopefully it works.
