Do you supplement light? It may just be a symptom of the shortening days.

Well they started having this issue before the light change i would say in July/August, I thought it was because of molting but it never went away and to be honest has gotten worse. today we got only 8 eggs out of 30 hens? i have lights in there coop and they worked well last year. what kind of lights would you recommend?

any ideas welcome

Maybe you can use both red and white from day to day. The one you get more with you keep. If don't work use laying mesh. To:greendragon.

I crack them into a lightly sprayed ice cube tray. I am getting some pretty good sized eggs so sometimes an egg overflows and I end up with some egg white ones which I can use for white cakes and such. After they freeze I put them in a ziplock and thaw at need.

that is just the best darn idea i have ever heard

I've been averaging 2 a day for almost a month. Yesterday the girls lost their free range priviledges and we ended up with 19 in the boxes today. There has to be hundreds of eggs scattered around my yard, lol. Hopefully something finds and eats them before spring.
