How much feed for one chicken?

So put one of my golden comets in a cage by her self.
Got her in the garage
Got her a feed cup
So I'm thinking 8 onces
Which is half a cup.
Trying to see who's laying and who's not

Putting her by herself may make her stop laying from the stress of the change....

Are you just going to keep her up until she lays an egg, or are you trying to see how many eggs she lays in a week or something? Most commercial feeds recommend free-feeding the birds. Most estimate about 4oz of food per day per hen. But that will vary by breed/size of the bird, weather etc. One thing is that moving etc birds will stress them and might make them stop laying, (and you don't want to shorten daylight hours or change them much). If you just want to see if she is laying at all, if you have the time on a weekend or some afternoons I like wait until I see the bird on the nest and then either block off the nest until she lays or put her in a dog crate etc in the coop until she lays then just let her go again, seems to upset them less.
