Hey there again! So how often will my new turkeys lay? Just got them yesterday. And someone told me before that turkey eggs do not scramble well. Is that true? I did get 1 egg yesterday, nothing today. It is so big and pretty, still have it on the counter, don't wanta crack it till I know what I am gonna do with it!

I wonder if it's an allergy to chicken eggs or an allergy to the feed the chicken was given to eat. After a lot of sleuthing, i found i am allergic to the soy most farm animals are supplemented with. Allergy testing confirmed the soy allergy along with a lot of other foods. I cannot eat commercially raised chicken or commercially raised turkey meat. So, we raise as much as of our own meat & poultry as we can. The chickens grow much more slowly without the soy in their feed, but that was expected. We do supplement with beef or other meat to raise the protein level of their feed.

So my question is this: Our turkeys started laying in March (first year) and then they stopped around May/ early June. Don't they lay l continue to lay until fall? Am I doing something wrong, or do they just not lay very long each year?

My turkey (hen) is laying eggs everyday some soft and some are with hard shell is there something wrong with her
Make sure she is getting enough calcium. Make oyster shell available free choice. If you are not using a layer feed for her, you may want to switch to layer feed.

Every turkey is different in how frequently they lay eggs. Most turkey hens do not lay every day but it can happen.

average of 1 every other day, younger hens often will lay a spert of 1 a day for a few days in a row, at least mine do, after the first year, they all tend to be 1 every other day, except royal palms, those things are egg making machines.
I sell or hatch all of mine and sell them as day old poults. They are worth too much for me to even think of eating, though I hear they are very good.
Eat it, hatch it or sell it, it's your call there
Good luck with the new birds!!

We ate pullet eggs from our hens first season of laying. They were not fertilized as far as we knew, didn't see TomTom doing his thing

They scrambled fine, but to be honest me and mom couldn't eat them, nothing wrong with them but it seemed weird. Dad & Hubby said they tasted fine, just like egg

All the rest are in the 'bator.

I have a hovabator, small incubator, and when I'm not putting the eggs in to hatch, I eat them and love it. They are just about like chicken eggs, the yolks are heavier and richer. ENJOY!!!
