I was 30-something when I got my first chicken. She is a white crested black polish named Henrietta (not a very original chicken name, but my daughter chose it and it stuck)
I was 39 (I am now 41). I bought them from one of BYC's advertisers because they adveritsed here and they were in Texas. All of my girls have the same name. I call all of them Tramp

I had 8 BSL's in my late 20's for a few years but really didn't know anything about chickens back then and there wasn't any internet or sites like this to learn on. I started again last year and now have 28 various breeds of chickens and have learned a whole lot on BYC.
My dad got baby chicks when I was growing up, I was maybe 10? I have no idea what breed they were or anything. They were half grown when some dogs ate them all, and that was the end of my parents' chicken keeping experiences. I have not had any since!!

I was maybe 5 yrs old when our neighbors gave me and my brother some ducklings. My dad put them in the corn crib for a pen and they were promptly eaten by a predator. So we didn't have them long.
I used to love the chickens at my grandparent's farm, but none were mine.
