How to reduce the humidity in my incubator

But also when the chicks hatch what temperature do i put it at because im using a 60 watt bulb.can i leave the top open so they dont get to hot??? and is aluminium foil good to put around.how long do i need to take out the chicks when they hatch???

My incubator has been at 30-40% humidity without adding water. My air cells have been developing really well up thru day 14. I candled again today (day 18) and my air cells have not changed! My air cells still match my day 14 lines. I added some silica in a baggy to drop the humidity but today is day 18, will it help at this point? I wish I had candeled sooner, but I assumed since it was all going according to instructions that my air cells would be vastly different today. Should I postpone lockdown a day and leave the silica in over night? Im worried about increasing the humidity when my aircells are still day 14 size.

This is the guide I am going by.

I'm having a humidity problem too, this is day 1 and I live in the mountains of North Carolina at elevation of 2,044 feet. I can't get my humidity lower than 68, any suggestions

How well does the rice/ silica work? I’m hatching quail eggs so no candling as I can’t see anything with all the spots.
I’m using a still air incubator temp at 101F and the humidity is staying at 70-75%. I’m on day 4. I’m fighting local humidity here in Florida.

I think its just a combination of your actual humidity and new eggs losing water - crack the vents open, as the days progress the humidity will fall, then when it gets close to what you want add water to keep it at that.
Do not worry about the temp falling as the incubator temp control will increase the heat to compensate, just open the vents gradually over a day or two so no big changes happen.

I’m a rookie and this new incubator stuff. Was influenced by a friend of mine and I’m looking to taking it serious. I just don’t know how to really use the incubator. I got the basics down the only issues is keeping the humidity level down in the incubator. ITs day one and the humidity leve is sitting on 60 and has been for half a day now. I don’t know how to turn it down can someone help me. It’s my first time and I’m looking for it to go good. Right now I opened the incubator from one side and the humidity level is at 50 but I was wondering if I would be able to keep it open or cracked like that a little bit without any issues. Thanks guys.

It kind of depends on your incubation methods, whether dry or not. I wouldn't think it would be harmful to be at 54. I keep mine between 50 and 55 for the first 18 days and then increase the last 3 days to around 65. However, unless you are doing a dry hatch, I would recommend keeping some water at all times in the incubator so too much humidity is not taken out of the eggs. If the eggs dry out, they may not be able to hatch because the chicks will get stuck inside.
I live in Florida just got my incubator it is humidity out side of 65 I took all the water out of is at 65% I add water it goes up to 70% how can I get this down to a safe lever
