yes! I have 10 hens a-layin and a rooster with 2 hens making eggs that will be raised for meat. I am in the process of building two incubators and have a brooder for about 15 chicks. I built two large coops. my ladies are happy there. I do plan to clip their wings and let them roam the yard in the daytime. Too many predators to leave them out at night.

I am new this time around but have raised chickens in the past. I gave it up when my girls graduated high school. Not my first dance. However, first time raising poultry for meat. I have butchered chickens in the past so that is also. not new. But, it's never too late to learn. The best teachers are those who are raising for themselves.
