The first batch will be eggs from the mixed flock, since the Blue Australorps are mostly still pullets. Black Langshan cockerel over assorted ladies.

I like it. Not just because of my love for metro shelves, but looks like it will work well. You could move it just before lock down for extra cat security.

The cardboard shelf liner top and bottom is to keep cat paws out of the wire as well as to prevent drafts.

FWIW. that model (NR 360, right?), held temp at near 100% near the vent in an a/c room for me.
