I joined! I have only been reading and referring to this website for over a year. I bought my first home at the end of July last year and it came with 5 laying RIR. I have been enjoying these ladies so much that I need more. I needed some new chickies that would like me for more than refilling the feed bucket. My reds are wonderful layers each of them lay about an egg a day. The only problem is I can't get near them they will come with in one foot of me. That is all the progress I have made from July! I give them treats daily and try to let them roam but they are mighty fond of their run and coop.
So on Sat. my bunny took me to this LOVELY NEW store in the area called The Urban Chicken. So if anyone is in the Raleigh, NC area GREAT store!.

They had everything I needed to get my new chickies all set up!. After looking at all the different chickies I ended up with 7. Oh man was that hard. I wanted so many more. I ended up picking a BLRW, Weslumer, Araucana, Americana, Cuckoo Maran, and 2 Black copper Marans. I am hoping all are pullets but one of the BCM but we shall see. Everyone was hatched on 3/17 and are all from a straight run. That being said I love them all I still have 3 names to go. I would love suggestions on bonding with them. I have been reading lots on here but if anyone has any advice that has worked for them I would love to hear. This is One of my BCM and I think my Americana. The Marans and the BLRW are really the only ones I can identify.6 of my 7 new babies. You can see the Cuckoo Maran has started to get a feathered tail today!

My babies in there home made brooder.

This is my Sweetpea, I think she is my americana. She (hopefully) is a real snuggle bug.
