Hey Folks,

I pretty much hang my hat here in the Recipes Forum and ya'll are like neighbors to me. God Bless all of you.
I've had bad eyesight for years, about 18 months ago I was diagnosed with open field glaucoma and have all these drops I use on my eyes, fancy glasses and all and I pretty much don't drive anymore.
Well two weeks ago I went again and it was pretty depressing taking the tests and while taking them KNOW what I'm supposed to be seeing and not seeing it. And the Docs reaction and diagnosis is real sobering.
It's not happy news.
I'm about completely blind in my left eye, my right eye the vision has degraded pretty seriously and now I'm gonna see some specialist in January.
I got a new computer with bigger and more defined screen but it only helps so much.
So now you know why I haven't been on as much, yeah I look in every day but all this stuff has been weighing on me pretty hard.
But what I need to do is not be on the computer and strain my eyes so much. And I needed to tell you folks how fond of you I am and how much I like the interaction we have.
So be good and keep a prayer for me going. OK ??
I'll still be around but if I have some typos or don't answer someone who's asking question bear with me, like I said I'll be here some, but not that much. You can always PM me if it can't wait.

Like it says in Matthew 6, 34 says "So do not worry about tomorrow: for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Ya'll be safe out there.

Oh gosh! I hate to hear that kind of news. My sister also has glaucoma, and she's nearly blind in one eye as well. She's only 49.

I am so sorry and of course I wish you the best!

I am soooo sorry. We have not interacted much on BYC but I have enjoyed many of your posts. I wish you well.

Dang!

I am so sorry to hear your news, but do not give up, and know your BYC fans are rooting for you to overcome this latest roadblock.

Getting old sure ain't for sissies

On my horsey BB we say that "jingling a curb chain" (part of a bridle) brings good wishes.
Know that I am jingling for all I'm worth!

My uncle who is legally blind has a computer program that uses his voice to type and search and then reads the computer screen to him. He is forever in the kitchen and has a lot of his recipies on his computer so he can "read" them.

Sorry you are having a tough time, I am hoping and praying things get easier!

Hate to hear that, BigMike. Any chance you can get a speaking computer or something?
I've been having difficulty with night vision. Just that little bit of vision loss is enough to really scare me. Knowing that my husband can see just fine in lowlight and doesn't understand why I'm not seeing what he's seeing is very concerning. My Grandmother went blind from diabetes and it really limited her life as she got older.
Will be praying for you! Take care!

I'm Irish and we're tough. And I got The Lord right with me, and Believe me that's a lot to me. And my wife is helping me too. Good thing I am retired - and I got you folks. I truly appreciate the good wishes and prayers.
