I think I figured out how to get my hens to go broody....

I have a Phoenix that likes to go broody as any time she sees a clutch of eggs. This year I decided I wanted her to hatch some out for me so I left a clutch of eggs in one of the nest boxes for a few days, and sure enough, she started to brood them. I thought, I wonder if anyone else will take the bait.....

I now have 4 broodies. There were 5, but one clutch hatched.

This is my original broody. She's a Phoenix.

We think this is a Saipan Game Hen...

Very smart! How many eggs did you give each of them? I have had up to 8 in my nesting box, with no avail. Either my chickens are dumb, or yours are really smart!
