I live on the Southside over by the airport! Southside PRIDE! and all that. The cheapest place to buy chicken food around here is Shoppers Mart on NE 14th clear out just past the interstate or Theisen's clear down on 65/69 just into Indianola. No one really has cheap feed though anymore. I supplement with stale bread and outdated bags of salad I get from my mom who has a "source". I always used to go to Des Moines Feed and I LOVE Ralph there but I really get torn between paying a bit more and supporting a local business or saving money since I have so many chickens.

There is also a FB group for Iowa Urban Chicken Farmers if you are on Facebook.

Finally back in Iowa. I made a 2350 mile round trip to show in Massachusetts last weekend. Drove in and out of snow all the way out (26Hrs + actual drive time) back in 18 Hrs. It was a good show and I did Ok but nothing great.Now more snow and WIND.
