I'm a newbie-- help!

My chicks are 3 weeks old and they are trying to fly out of the stock tank I have them in! Can I clip their wings now? They are sharing the garage with our cats... needless to say if they get out, they will probably not survive! I only take the cover off to feed and clean, but that is when they 'try their wings'... Also, how soon can I put them outside if I keep them in the coop with their heat lamp? We are still having some chilly nights - about 40-45... It's a small coop on legs - about 4' x 6' and about 4' tall. Thanks!

Do you have any storm door screens that you could use for the top? I've also used those white wire shelving that people use in their closets. I happened to have some extra sections hanging around and they worked out perfectly and were nice and strong (to keep cats out). If you zip-tie a couple of sections together then you can make it any size you want and the zip tie acts like a hinge to enable you to lift up one section to change water and add food.

i use chicken wire on top of mine but i have a wooden create for mine to grow in
