i dont even know what sidecutters are
i have wire strippers but tend to just use the lighter, heat it up pinch it off, super easy

I was using my hubbies (he stole my other one) but his is gross and sticky.
I bought a cheapo pair side cutters from the dollar store.

I wouldn't melt it. That'll make an nasty mess won't it? Use the wire strippers. I would.
