In the Brooder
Hey all,
Just wanted some advice for my girls. I have 4 red sexlinks, 1 barred rock, and 1 easter egger. So generally we are getting between 1-3 sometimes rarely 4 eggs a day. My coop is about 9ft long by 6ft wide, and the run is the same measurements. We have a total of 4 nesting boxes typical 1x1x1. I have 5 roosting bars for them plenty of room. We are feeding them 16% egg layer pellets. I have a 3 gallon waterer outside and 1 gallon inside for them. In the mornings we usually feed them some treats like cabbage, lettuce, meal worms, grass, whatever else. We also lay down 2-3 large cup fulls of scratch for them. Should we stop giving the scratch and only offer the pellets and the veggies we normally give them? Should I add another nest/s boxes or maybe more roosting bars? There is plenty of ventilation, and the run is covered on the top. Should I add some small lights in the coop itself to help it does get dark in there. Any ideas are helpful.
