Incubating all year round??

We do. Some people say that it is not good to raise chicks during the winter months and that they grow poorly and others say they eat more and grow bigger. Regardless, we hatched some very nice Jersey Giants last September and they are some of the nicest that we have had thus far.

I hatched chicks in January. So far, they seem very healthy. Nobody's laying yet.

I will say this: having chicks in the front room for months on end suuuuuuuucks. So, if you have a garage or basement or someplace else you can keep the chicks after a couple weeks, it may not be so bad. But, once the chicks get to be 3-4 weeks old, they start to really stink, even if you're cleaning out their brooder box frequently.

I don't think I'd hatch in the winter again if I had a choice, but that's just because I'm sick of my house smelling like a barn, despite my best efforts.
