incubator got cold :(

My first hatch is currently under 'lock down'. This is day 21, though we started the eggs at 10:30 pm on day 1, so its sort of still day 20. Last night the temp reached -30C (-22F) outside, and it was all we could do to keep our old farm house warm. The bator dropped to 96F. I'm still trying to get it back up, its at 98, but it isn't climbing very well. Would my chicks be dead now?

No, they're much tougher than that! I remember a member here posted awhile ago and said her incubator got switched off accidentally and she only discovered it 24 hours later. She turned it back on and the eggs hatched out fine. They may be a little overdue, because of the lower temp, but it's late in the incubation, so I don't know if it would be a factor anymore. But either way, don't worry if they hatch a little late. And don't worry!

Well, it wasn't a total tragedy, we got 9/64. There were a few losses after hatching as well. Will post pics when I can!
