Incubators Anonymous

Second of five pipped! And she is a wild woman! Just chirping up a storm and rocking that egg back and forth!

And there's a baby! She's been out for about a half an hour. Any kind of a time frame for how long it generally takes for them to stand up? She keeps trying and scooting herself around. Poor thing looks tuckered out!

Also, it looks like she might have curled toes from what I can see? How long should I wait before trying to put little tape shoes on?

Mines toes straightened within the first 24 hours just by wobbling around on the paper towel. The ones I did tape I only left the tape on for 12-24 hours & it was resolved. If it's a quail don't leave it in there too long, they don't have the reserves like chicken chicks do. Grippy shelf liner is good for traction in the Incubator, I recommend that next time.

Actually, it's been a couple hours and her feet are starting to look pretty straight. Now if I could just get her brothers and sisters out of their shells! Good idea on the shelf liner. I was trying to think of what I could use that wouldn't interfere with the water tray below.

Like this? (This is just an image off of my google search)

Nibbles and sky. Sky is very pastel and so is her penciling
