As opposed to several hens?

Always introduce chicks that are relatively the same size as the adults you are mixing with them. Young chicks can get hurt or wounded mixing them with adults. So they need to be 3 or 4 months old before you mix them with any adult birds. Even one adult can hurt young babies.

But if these chicks are the size of this one hen, as long as you have allowed them to see each other for a few weeks, and you have plenty of space for all of them to escape one another, then you should be ok. Always put out more feeding and watering stations when adding new birds. The older birds can guard these areas and starve out the new birds.

Thanks for the fantastic advice on this site. My 12 week old littles have moved in with the big girls. They free ranged together for about 4 weeks but kept their own space at night. Last night they all made their way into the coop. Of course, the 4 littles rest on one roost while the 3 big girls rest on another. :weee
