introducing momma and chicks to main flock

I've had momma and her three chicks enclosed in a smaller section of the main pen with chicken wire. The chicks are two weeks old. The main flock which momma is/was part of is 15 birds and they've gotten a good eyeball on the chicks for a week. I have a need for the smaller pen momma and chicks are in (it's 3.5 x8 ft or so) can I let momma and chicks out with adults or am I asking for lots of trouble?? Thanks, Keystonepaul

Hey Paul
I would try and be there if any of the other girls gets crazy

I had a silkie momma and she did fine when I finally introduced to the flock of standards
she was very protective of her babies

I was right there when I did it in case it went wrong

I'm still new only had chickens for a year or so and only 1 mamma so far
maybe one of our experts will chime in
