(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Pretty new. I bought two baby chicks in April 2017. Then i moved to a new home and lost one girl on the move (maybe to heat and/or she was laying eggs with lots of blood in the white). Would like to know what causes that. Got a new girl (4 months old this April). She just began laying and decided to go broody. Gave her a cool bath and that seems to have did the trick. Just wonder when she'll begin laying again.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 2 hens
(3) What breeds do you have? Buff and Barred Rock
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Google
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Running, gardening, reading, meditating....
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I'm retired teacher and have a roommate (student) currently Japan. A bit worried to leave my girls for a month when i'm traveling. Haven't met my new neighbors and will need someone reliable to let them out and lock them back in the coop at night and feed and water them.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Have google in the past with just basic ideas. The broody challenge was a biggie but so far so good.
