is bread bad for chickens?

I heard somewhere that bread is not great to give chickens. Maybe it is the sugars in the bread and it gives them diahrea? What do you all think? I've got a loaf on my counter and a pile of pancakes that I am wanting to take out to the girls but thought I'd gather your thoughts first. TIA.

I'll be honest I've never heard this and I give mine bread all the time!! So I'll be waiting to see if someone answers says it is!!

Its not that its bad. Its okay in moderation, thats all. Just like any treats. Some are more healthful than others are.

I am no expert but I feed my flock all the bread scraps I can and they appear to be very healthy.

I give my chickens old bread, tortillas, cormbread, even cake (when we have some lying around which isn't often). My chickens are free range, so they run everything off.

I feed mine bread. They prefer my homemade whole wheat bread instead of white bread. They seem to know the processed stuff and don't really eat it. Healthy chickens, healthy eggs, and healthy meat!
