Is it normal for pullets to go after a roo for trying to mate with another pullet? Also question about roo responding to laying pullet

We have possibly 3-4 pullets who are laying now. And our little cockerel roo has found his crowing voice since getting rid of the barred rock roosters. And he's also taken up roosterly reproduction duties. However theres been times when he mounts one and another comes running over and knocks him off. Particularly our wyandottes. Our one wyandotte Wilma I've seen her body slam him off one of our buff orpington. Is it normal for them to do this at times? It's not like 100% of the time but its often they'll peck or jump at him to knock him off.

Roo is younger than all but 1 pullet who is the same age. We have 10 pullets.

Also do roosters respond to the egg song. Today I went out and heard our buff orpington Lemon Pepper singing from the coop and he was making some sort of similar sound a bit quieter than she was singing.

That's normal, when you have an a older hen in the group she takes on the role as leader of the flock. And it's her will on how she controls the flock. So it's not surprising to see her behave that way to a cockerel.

As the cockerel gets older, he'll take control from her as the flock leader.

Thank you. Pretty much confirms our guess that the Wyandottes rule the flock lol.
