So my 6 month old bantam chicken HeiHei i think will be laying eggs soon (I am not sure though because this is my first hen). Let’s start with why I think she is: recently she has been making A LOT of noise. She is always chattering and it is super loud. Then she has a really red comb. Also, the other chickens she is with she is being rude to them by pecking at them when they get too close to her. It stopped now though but I still think she does it when I am not around. I also tried checking to see if her pelvis (if that’s what it is called) to see if the bones were far apart yet. They seemed far but I could have been checking in the wrong spot. Do any of you guys have a picture where the pelvis is? And does it seem like she is laying soon?

She is around that age where she will be laying soon, however that can vary based on their breed. For some they will start laying at around 5-6 months and for others it could be 7-8 months. The red come is a sign of reaching maturity and I wouldn't be surprised if your hen lays within at least a few weeks. Although I've never had any bantams so I couldn't tell you how long before they lay eggs.
