Is there a way to encourage a hen to become broody?

I have some young hens. Probably 6 or 7 or 8 months. Life's been hectic so dates are fuzzy. They are new to the egg making business, as am I.
Is it possible to encourage a hen to become broody? Must they be of a certain age before even starting to exhibit such behavior?

You can leave a few fake eggs in nest---might get one in the mood. What breed do you have?

I have one ceramic egg in four nesting boxes.
I have 2 RIR, 3 Americaunas, and 2 BSL.

She probably would become unbroody from the stress of shipment and being added to a new flock.
That would be my luck.

Put all the fake eggs into one nest----probably work better.

Very much fun!! I set 72 in just 2015 alone--lots of chicks!
