Is this a sex link?

Hello! I recently bought barred rock chicks locally to add to my flock. My intentions are to breed them because barred rocks are my favorite and no one has them in my area.

Anyway, now I’m worried that I may have quite a few sex links. But I don’t know much about them to say for sure! I have 2-3 (out of 22) that have black heads. They have barring on the wings and are also much larger than the rest of them despite being from the same clutch…

I doubt they are all sex links (or I just don’t want to believe I have 19-20 roosters 😂). I do think most of them are barred rocks based on how I’ve been able to sex them fairly easily.

Anyway, any thoughts on breed??

At that age, people can tell you what they are *not* but will have a hard time pinpointing what they are. Where did you get them? Was it a reputable breeder or a backyard flock? If a backyard flock, they might be mixed breeds

Could be a black australorp maybe?

I’m sure there are several that are crosses. I’m just wanting some possible ideas at this point. The ones without head spots are clearly not pure BR so I’m a little nervous that there may be several sex linked roos that I might have tagged as female. Just wanting a place to start so I can look for characteristics. The guy I bought them from has been breeding for a few years but obviously there was some confusion or intermingling going on 😂

Can you get a picture anyways? You can tell if a chick has a single comb right after it hatches. Pea and rose are harder to differentiate at a young age, but it would be obvious that it’s one of the two.
I did my best! Same bird.
