Is this baby lavender?

I honestly know nothing about the genetics behind lavender, just that its not common. I assumed it was a dilute like blue? I will be thrilled if she turns out blue too. It'll be interesting to watch the progression as she grows.

It's a dilute, but it's recessive. So, both parents have to have it for the chick to express it. A lavender bird is genetically black, with the lav or self-blue gene making the bird lavender.

It's a separate thing than the black/blue/splash line. the color is different, and it works different genetically. I think your bird is going to be basically blue, maybe with other colors coming through.

Adam, the one on the right is the closest in color I've seen to mine. Such cute little ones! I'm going to just assume she's blue though since it seems genetically unlikely that she's lavender.

Well, I think we're going to have a little splash EE. She's got pretty grey feathers coming in here and there. Can't wait to see how she turns out!
