Own plenty of land zoned ag outside city limits but as of now I only have a hand full of chickens but this may be a side project in the future I could use input from people with such knowledge when I get to it

You will need to set aside space for a lot of birds. You are going to have fertility issues to overcome likely requiring testing for fertile individuals. You also have expect very low hatch rates. On chicken side if an option, use commercial leghorns so egg number can partially offset low hatch rate.

they will be a couple days old is there a way to sex them?

The hatcheries sex the chicks, they do it a certain way I just don't know how they do it.

Hatcheries can vent sex the chicks, it's how they can sell male lots, female lots, and or straight run lots. Vent sexing is not always 100% right, this is stated in the fine print somewhere by the hatcheries. I have heard of people ordering a certain number of females and then a few males and the hatcheries will mark the male chicks with a colored dot on the head if you ask them to.
