my 6 yr old DD was here last weekend and shes looking at "her chickens" and she decides she needs to give em all a pep talk and let them know exactly what thier roles in life are.

She stands at the run and says "Ok chickens, listen up....Roosters, you need to eat and get big, fast so we can have you for dinner!! and you, hens...you need to start laying some eggs, thats your job, you lay eggs for our breakfast...so now, get to it!"

I once gave our RIR's a pep talk. We hadn't be getting any eggs for that whole week, so I went back to their pen and said "Okay gals, you need to start laying or dad will make you dinner!" I dare say all that got me was a look from our oldest RIR hen that said " how DARE you tell us that!"
