The walls of the tunnel seemed to move with shadows, always watching, but never coming close.

Jaclyn eyed the shadows with curiousity, but didn't pay much attention to them.

Jingo was watching them intently, making eye contact with one every now and then.

They soon arrived at the end of the tunnel, and found themselves dead in the arctic. A blizzard blew but Malik flicked his ears and calmed it quickly and cleared the clouds. Jaclyn examined the stars for a minute before she flapped her wings and took into the air, her siblings and the rest of the army following.

The night air was very calm, and eerily quiet, as if something was waiting in the darkness just out of reach.

They blew it off as nothing and arrived at Jack's cave a few hours later, circling around like vultures.

The cave was silent, nothing stirred.

The army still circled around.

"We came out all this way for this?!" Jasmine hissed.

"No, I'm sure this is some sort of trap." Jaclyn replied. She directed several bats down into the cave to investigate.

The bats hardly had time to reach the cave when the sky suddenly exploded into a shower of blue sparks as missiles of light streaked down from the sky, slamming into the soldiers from all sides. Slender, lithe shapes darted through the night air, their dark pelts making them nearly invisible as they attacked.

A huge gust of wind knocked them off course as a bolt of lightning shot down, missing one of the creatures by a few feet.
