Laying after an illness

Hi!

What are your experiences with the time frame it takes for a chicken to return to laying after she has been ill? Our Lily started acting a bit despondent 2 weeks ago and I noticed her crop was not emptying. We brought her to the vet who flushed it out and gave her an prescription for antibiotics. We kept her inside in the tub for a few days until she returned to better health and started eating and moving normally. Then we brought her back into the coop with her sisters last week. Since then, she is lively and acting like her normal chicken self, all except she is not laying. We gave her the last pill on Monday. I know that she would stop laying while sick, but how long does this usually last? If she doesn't lay in another week or so, should we consult the vet again?

It can take quite a time, even up to 4 month's

Agree, sometimes it can take a long time for them to start again, a couple of weeks to a couple of months after a big shock to their system. This time of year a lot of them are molting also, and she may start that.
