Learning about chickens!

The kids got them at a scramble at the fair first one they ever did! Not yet be we are in process of it I have my dads old wateres from when we had chickens long ago and feeding tray , I'm half way there!

It is a very small comb on the brown chicken but it still has a lot of fluff on its but though too

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Cute pics! Yes, Barred Rock. :)

Enjoy them and welcome to our flock!

I think this is a barred rock? Not sure how old or anything!
Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join us. It's definitely a Barred Rock. At a glance, it looks like it is probably a pullet, but with a full body profile, showing the head and tail as well, it's gender could be easily determined. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can.

Sun Ray Reds are Sun Ray Hatchery's (located in Iowa) label for their Red Rangers, which are hybrids bred to be good meat birds which are good foragers as well (not usually a trait for meat birds). BYC has a thread discussing Red Rangers at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/765123/red-ranger-chickens. You can also read Murray McMurray's comments on the Red Ranger at https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/red_ranger_broiler.html.
