Leaves!!

They love them

and are running

around and thru them and looking for

all kinds of little critters and they are

to watch

I don't have any deciduous trees, but the pines have been dropping boatloads of needles. Whooo boy! Are the chooks happy! There's pine duff all over the place and the recent rain has washed a lot of it down the steep driveway. Chickens cluster together down there, a'kickin and a'scratchin in it.

Every year I have about 50 bags of leaves for the town to pick up, I really hate bagging them. What can I do with them that my chickens would love? I thought about throwing a bunch in the area they hang out but then I was thinking wet poopy leaves would not smell to good. Should I try it? Will it smell bad?

Ha-ha I raked up a bunch of leaves today and also grabbed a few worms I found while raking and tossed them in the run! what fun to watch them scratch and play and chicken chase the ones who found the worms!!

I am gonna have to rake up some leaves for my flock. Fuuny how they love to pick at new things.

yep, the chickens love rummaging through the leaves. I have found that my goats like to pick em up as soon as they fall and eat them. no raking for me!

Yep they spread them and I just put em back in a pile and they love it. They dive right back in to remodel. Funny little creatures!!
